Breaking Barriers Between Architecture & Lighting! AALD Delivers Special Lectures at CSWADI and JZFZ

Recently, Xu Dongliang, Standing Director of AALD & Principal Designer of Dongliang International Lighting Design Center, and Ma Bin, Secretary-General of AALD & Founder of China Lighting Jinzhi, paid successive visits to China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Corp., Ltd. (CSWADI) and JZFZ Architectural Design Co., Ltd., delivering two consecutive professional sharing sessions.This series of lectures built a professional exchange bridge integrating profound humanistic heritage and cutting-edge technologies. In-depth discussions were held on the implementation and application of new quality productive forces in the design industry, as well as the innovative practice of AIGC in lighting and architectural design.

On July 8, the first lecture was held at CSWADI’s Zhishan Academy. Co-hosted by the institute’s architecture, landscape and electrical engineering departments, the event themed *Digitally Intelligent Light Creation, Coexistence of Light and Shadow – Sharing on Lighting Design and AIGC Technology*, drawing a large number of young designers from the institute.

Mr. Xu Dongliang delivered an insightful speech titled *Technology and Humanity Embodied in Light*. Drawing on decades of hands-on experience in frontline lighting projects, he elaborated on the design logic of luminous environments, striking a balance between practical lighting technologies and humanistic demands of living spaces, with content rich in both operational guidance and theoretical depth.

Mr. Ma Bin presented a sharing session *Past, Present and Future: The Prospect of AIGC*. He thoroughly analyzed the iterative transformation and breakthrough approaches of the design industry, centering on the dual core of urban renewal and digital empowerment via AIGC, and pioneered a brand-new paradigm for the integration of lighting, architecture and cities.

On July 9, the two experts were invited to JZFZ for its signature Master Lecture Hall. Co-organized by AALD, Sichuan Society of Electrical Illumination and JZFZ, the lecture adopted the theme *Light as the Bond Linking Architectural Spaces and Cities*. Mr. Li Jin, Executive Chief Architect of JZFZ Architectural Design Co., Ltd., joined the exchange discussion, while Yang Guang, AALD Chengdu Coordinator & Senior Member and Director of the Lighting Division at JZFZ Chengdu Architectural Branch, presided over the event.

Centered on the theme *Light as the Bond Linking Architectural Spaces and Cities*, Mr. Xu Dongliang unpacked the underlying design logic of luminous environments from multiple dimensions including interior spaces, cities, streets and buildings, sorting out the thinking framework of light and shadow design for young architects. Mr. Ma Bin further interpreted the cutting-edge trends of AIGC digital lighting, focusing on opportunities brought by digital transformation, and interacted with on-site designers to explore innovative directions of the industry.

The two consecutive cross-disciplinary professional dialogues have broken down the barriers between lighting and architecture disciplines. They not only explored the profound humanistic connotation of traditional light and shadow creation, but also forecasted industrial transformations driven by digital technologies. The sessions clarified design thinking and offered professional guidance for young designers present, while injecting fresh impetus into the digital transformation and AI technological innovation of the architectural lighting sector.
