Light Night

The 21st Lighting Night & Asia Lighting Design Awards Ceremony was successfully held.

As the annual benchmark event of the Asian lighting industry, this gathering brought together industry leaders and lighting professionals from multiple countries, building a cross-regional, cross-border professional exchange platform.

The event featured a strong international atmosphere, with distinguished guests from Australia, Malaysia, India, Russia, and other countries attending in person. The ceremony specially invited representatives from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) of North America, fully demonstrating the international influence and global credibility of the Asia Lighting Design Awards, and vividly showcasing AALD's industry vision of deepening cross-border exchanges and international cooperation.

Meanwhile, representatives from housing, urban management, and lighting authorities as well as industry associations from multiple regions gathered at the event, including the Guangzhou Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Greenery and City Appearance Administration, Chongqing Urban Management Bureau, Chongqing Urban Lighting Center, Suzhou Lighting, Wuxi Lighting, as well as the China Illuminating Engineering Society, Beijing Illuminating Engineering Society, Sichuan Lighting Electrical Appliances Association, and Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliances Association, empowering and supporting industry innovation, development, exchange, and integration.

Yan Yonghong

At the opening of the event, AALD Chairperson, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, Yan Yonghong, took the stage to deliver the opening address. She noted that the event is not only about honoring outstanding projects that demonstrate exceptional innovative thinking and artistic value in lighting design, but also about collectively witnessing the vigorous growth of Asian lighting design power.

Ma Bin

Ma Bin, AALD Secretary-General and Founder of Zhongzhao Jinzhi, then delivered his address. He reviewed the 21-year innovation journey of "Lighting Night," confronted the challenges facing the industry head-on, and called on colleagues to uphold the power of "belief." He expressed his hope that through the empowerment of new quality productive forces, we can leave a happy life for carbon-based beings and entrust complex work to silicon-based beings. He also encouraged everyone to "stand in the light" and act proactively, warming themselves through transformation and heading toward a bright future together.

During the "CDN Say · Walk Towards the Light" themed dialogue session, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at South China University of Technology, Wu Shuoxian, Yan Yonghong, and Xu Dongliang, AALD Executive Director and Lead Designer at Dongliang International Lighting Design Center, engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including Scenics of Light, urban renewal, resilient lighting, and cultural tourism lighting environments. The session was moderated by Xu Changcai, Executive Director of the Beijing Illuminating Engineering Society and Chief Brand Officer of CDN Industrial.

Wu Shuoxian

Academician Wu Shuoxian pioneered the theory of "Scenics of Light" (Guangjingxue). Based on the integrated study of soundscape, fragrance landscape, and lightscape, this theory advocates a concept of multi-sensory landscape creation and has now become an important theoretical reference in the field of lighting design.

The Asia Lighting Design Awards Ceremony, the core segment of the evening, unveiled winners across four award categories — Special Light, Excellent Light, Extraordinary Light, and Asian Light — in seven consecutive rounds. Numerous outstanding design projects and designers received honors, which not only affirms their professional excellence but also serves as a concentrated review of the diversified development of Asian lighting design.
